Vibrant Expressions: Turning Color into Meaningful Art
What’s Real Doesn’t Wash Away
When I learned to paint glassware that could withstand the dishwasher, it felt like more than a practical discovery—it became a symbol to me. True art doesn’t fade. It endures. That’s how I see all of my work, whether it’s on canvas, glass, or watercolor paper. I want the pieces I create to carry meaning that lasts, just like the emotions and experiences that inspired them.
I’ve always believed that color is one of God’s greatest gifts. It serves no practical purpose—we don’t need it to eat or breathe. And yet, the world is full of vibrant color, given to us for the sheer joy of it. That simple truth inspires me deeply. Every time I pick up a brush, I feel like I’m participating in a small way in that gift, creating something that brings light and beauty into the world.
Painting has become my peace. I'm a ninth-grade teacher and a single mom of three incredible kids. Life hasn’t been easy—I’ve walked through a devastating house fire and fought a fierce battle with aggressive breast cancer. Those moments could have broken me, but instead they refined me. Through it all, painting became my therapy, my way to heal and process what words often couldn’t express.
Lately, I’ve fallen in love with watercolor. There’s something about its fluidity and unpredictability that speaks to me. It reminds me that beauty often comes from letting go, from embracing imperfections, and from trusting the process.
At the heart of it all, I want my art to speak—to tell a story, to bring comfort, to stir something meaningful in the heart of the viewer. My hope is that what’s real in my work never washes away.
